The Russian born Israeli violinist and conductor, Yuval Waldman joins the American pianist, Paul Posnak for two concerts.  Saturday, January 22 at 7:30 pm in Miami Shores and Sunday, January 23 at 4 PM in Gusman Concert Hall, Coral Gables.

The concert will include sonatas by Beethoven and Cesar Franck, works by De Falla and Kreisler, and Florida premieres by jazz great Dick Hyman and by Russian composer Leonid Desyatnikov.

"Brilliant" and "spectacular" are only two of the superlatives that have been bestowed on Yuval Waldman since his Carnegie Hall debut. He is a frequent guest artist in Europe and the United States and has performed with such artists as Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zuckerman and Jean-Pierre Rampal. His repertoire includes more than sixty concerti and he is well-known for his thoughtful and stylish performances and recordings of Baroque music, both as a violinist and as a conductor. He has championed rarely performed nineteenth century masterpieces and has commissioned and premiered numerous works by contemporary American and Israeli composers.

Mr. Waldman is currently the director of both the World Bank Mozart Festival, Washington, DC and the New American Chamber Orchestra in New York. In addition he is the first violinist of the Kinor Quartet. He has given numerous master classes throughout the United States, Europe and Israel and is on the faculty of Summertrios and Waterville Valley Music Center.

Paul Posnak received a full scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music when he was only eight years old. He subsequently earned Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral degrees and was awarded the Loeb Prize (Juilliard's highest award). In addition, he won First Prize awards in both the International J.D. Bach Competition and the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York, resulting in a performance at the White House and national recognition.

He has accompanied and collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti and Jennie Tourel and performed and recorded with such acclaimed ensembles as the Emerson String Quartet, the Dorian Woodwind Quintet and the Fine Arts, Portland, New World, Vega and Bergonzi String Quartets. Recent performances include concerto appearances with the National Symphony Orchestras at The Kennedy Center and a special recital appearance for the United States Supreme Court.

Dr. Posnak's distinguished career as both a classical artist and jazz pianist has brought him international recognition and his CD's for Naxos, EMI Classics, Arabesque, Yamaha Disklavier and Vox have drawn universal praise. He has entertained audiences on four continents and millions more have heard him on radio in the United States and London.
